Everything Comes to an End
Time 13 hours later
In orbit over moon
------------------------------------

Adlyn slowed the freighter to a holding orbit and walked back to her cabin to finish getting ready. They had spent a good couple hours playing drinking games and then they slept off the alcohol. She dressed in a black outfit and ran the dermal regenerator over the exposed bruises on her face and knuckles. It would only be temporary and they would be back within an hour or so. The annoyance factor of her nanomachines needing to do the work they needed to at their pace. The damage to her blood vessels were taken care of. The bruises would start decomposing soon. Considering how bad she had gotten this time, she knew she would still have some at her out processing. They wouldn't appear that bad when she got back. She pulled her hair back and into a loose bun. "It's time," she stated to him as she walked out of her cabin.

Logan had left enough time to sober up but not so much he was as nervous as previously. He took a deep breath and nodded. "Let's go."

The coordinates for the beam down had already been entered and he input the commands to energize.

Moon's Surface

Logan look over across the landscape to see the two women waiting for them. He recognized them both and his eyes settled on Kaitlyn who seemed slightly confused. He smiled at seeing her. She looked so much more 'adult' than the last time they'd met. Pictures did not do her justice. "Hey Katiedid."

"Devin?" her eyes got wide. "Is that you?"

"Yeah… I know I don't look like you remem…"

He didn't get to finish before she rushed over and embraced him. He hugged her back and two remained silent for several minutes. When the hug finally broke, she looked over at Adlyn. "Who's this?"

"A friend who helped us," he motioned for Adlyn to introduce herself.

Adlyn extended her hand to shake. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Adlyn Rowley. Bernard and I go way back." She smiled as she knew that Bernard had filled her in on some things, especially how things were going to change back six months ago when his op went bad. It was all damage control.

Kaitlyn shook Adlyn's hand although with a look of trepidation. "So… you work with Devin?"

"Yes and no. Our paths crossed six months ago. We were able to finally arrest the leak we had, as she told you. It was her job to keep you safe as it was my job to keep your brother safe. After today, Bernard and I are done with our missions and we go our own way." She smiled slightly to ease the trepidation the young woman was exhibiting. "At least now you won't need to worry about looking over your shoulder. Bernard undoubtedly gave you the details."

"She told me Brakka was killed in an attempt to arrest him," Kaitlyn replied.

It wasn't technically a lie. If Brakka had surrendered, that's what could have happened. Logan was grateful his sister hadn't been told he killed Brakka. He nodded. "Brakka's dead."

"So we're both going to this new home? Together?" she asked.

Logan shook his head. "You are. I still owe Starfleet for the deal I made to keep us safe."

"Devin, it's been over ten years…"

"I know. It'll be better this time. I can visit more often, I promise," he assured her.

Kaitlyn turned to Adlyn. "I love my brother to death but he had a tendency to lie to me. He thinks he's keeping me safe. So tell me this… what does he do for Starfleet?"

"He is an operations coordinator for officers in the field. He makes sure we have the support that we need. Logistics is almost a better description of it. He makes sure people get to their new assignments, coordinate new assignments, and make sure that ships and locations have what they need with supplies, support, and officers. Then he gets the fun job of coordinating all those efforts, documenting them, and keeping the admirals informed how smoothly things are going." It was the loosest description of being stranded behind a desk she could describe without giving away fleet secrets. "Before, he used to personally oversee criminal investigations to arrest officers that committed crimes."

Kaitlyn paused and looked at them both as if she had another question but then decided not to ask it. "I guess as long as he's safe." She looked back at Logan. "And I want to see you a lot more often. No more of this cryptic messages crap. Ok?"

"I promise," he reiterated. He would do his best, of course. From a desk that was much more likely, provided it stayed the way.

Kaitlyn moved over to Adlyn to hug her. "Do me a favor and keep an eye on him? Even if you're not working together."

Adlyn held her hands up in shock when the woman hugged her. She stifled a grimace from her tight embrace and then rested her hands around Kaitlyn returning the embrace.

=/\="What happened?"=/\= Nomi shot a glare at her as she asked in their native tongue.

=/\="The mod I made has consequences of use. Contusions get worse the more energy I take on. I think that poison had something to do with it and I really just need a high gravity chamber. It was as we expected it to be…"=/\= Adlyn responded to her in the same language. "I promise I will do my best. If not, Bernard can. She works logistics more than I do," she switched to Federation standard. There was a slight accent barely discernible left on her vocal cords that had a tendency to come out when she switched back and forth rapidly between languages. =/\="You can look at it at my out processing,=/\= Adlyn replied in Ekahl.

Kaitlyn let Adlyn go and moved back to Logan. She handed him an isolinear chip. "This is where they're taking me. But you could have probably figured that out on your own. This is just in case. I'll message you when I get there."

"Thanks," he hugged her again. "I'll see you soon."

"You better…" she added with emphasis before she rejoined Nomi.

"It was nice meeting you," Adlyn waved goodbye to the two of them. =/\="May your stars align."=/\=

=/\="I'll see you for out processing. May your stars align."=/\= they then both nodded slightly to each other. "Ready?" Adlyn whispered to Logan before they teleported away.

Logan sighed again. "Yeah, let's go. I… appreciate you leaving out certain details about my previous ops. She wouldn't understand."

"She didn't need to know. It's against protocol anyways." She teleported them to the freighter in orbit and went to the flight controls and plotted a course correction back to Earth and deleted the logs of them stopping there. "She will be safer knowing less anyways." Adlyn unzipped her jacket and started working on her report and out processing documentation. "And look at it this way… if there hadn't been a leak, we may have never had the sanctioned authority to take care of Brakka and you two would be still apart. At least something good came out of all that bad."

"I suppose you're right," he nodded. He sat down at one of the pilot's seats and looked over their new course. "So you're coming back to HQ first?"

"Yeah, got to out process, debrief, medical, oath changes all those hoops...flaming hoops probably... maybe. And since my last fleet assignment was intelligence and not a cover assignment, I got to get a new assignment. I put out the requests as soon as I heard the leak was caught. All I can do is wait until I'm done with the out processing and a free assignment comes up. They stopped assigning me Intelligence missions after I requested to be pulled from the rotation after my bad op. I went on to do a couple of missions for Intel when I was an assistant chief when they were desperate. The missions stopped when I got promoted to Chief then Spectre happened coming to our rescue and pulled enough strings to pull me out of the Fleet to do solely intelligence..." She shrugged. "I don't know where they will end up sticking me or when they will find me a new one. I'm kind of directionless after out processing." The tone of her voice expressed her frustration with how her assignments had been going. She liked control with her life and was happy when she got the promotion to Chief Engineer. She knew it meant only desperate measure missions and passive Intel gathering. That didn't last long.

Logan stood and moved behind her. He gently massage her shoulders, being careful of her injuries. "Are you feeling better at least?" She'd been through a ton of shit and then loaded up more to help him. If there was anything he could do to make her more comfortable the rest of the way, he was ready and willing.

"Loads." She smiled as she replied. "Like a whole world of burdens off of my shoulder. Nervous about the unknown. Then again, we set off into the unknown on a seven year journey to make a new world. Four years later with a fraction of us alive ...we had succeeded in a completely different corner of the galaxy." She paused as she closed her eyes enjoying the massage. She felt twinges of guilt. "You do know that you've gone far, far above and beyond the normal call of duty," she commented. She didn't stop him, but he needed to know it wasn't expected or warranted even though she had accepted it.

"You saved my life and you helped make my sister safe. I don't think I've gone far enough. You know in our line of work that kind of trust is rare," he explained. He layered a trail of kisses on her neck. "I was thinking, now that everything's settled we should make the most of the next three days. Probably never see each other once we get back."

She rotated in the chair to look at him. "It was the right thing to do… but yes, it is rare and that's another factor in everything too… my ethics and morals aren't quite aligned to Intelligence. I hold myself to a better standard." She pulled him closer to her as she looked up at him. "With how big Federation space is, I would say you're probably right." She smirked. As much as the work was needed, it wasn't hot, there was time. "So what all do you have in mind?"

"Well, part of my training included thirty-six different types of mating rituals and sexual gratification. We could see how many of them we can get through before we wear ourselves out?" he smirked.

She had been more used as a sneaky skeleton key than the intelligence gathering the old fashioned way. It made sense now. He had been trained to obtain information that way. "I understand," she commented in reply. "It makes sense." She could see the expression on his face change slightly. "Now, I'm not saying that as a no. It's not quite a resounding yes that you were hoping for either. I still have stuff that I have to get done too." She pondered for a second. "All that can be done later, not this instant. So how about you give it your best shot," she challenged him.

He cocked an eyebrow. "Challenge accepted. I think you'd be surprised how sensual the Vulcan can be…"
