Blueberry
Klingon Small Freighter
------------------------------------
Having tapped into the transporter system as soon as they got into range, Adlyn and Logan reappeared on the transporter pad at the rear of the freighter. She immediately piloted the freighter away from the planet using her implant on a path that would take them the scenic route home ensuring that it didn’t appear that it was a Federation coordinated attack. She had made sure that their tracks were covered and what weapons they had used were found readily in the Syndicate’s armory. Hopefully with everything that they had done, it would look like a turf war between Brakka’s contingency and another.
She moved over to the one small cabin she had on the starboard side of the freighter and dropped her gear as she started shedding the layers of holsters. First things first, she went to the small table and poured them both a deep drink and then went to sit on the edge of the bed, sighing heavily. “Hell of a fight,” she managed to finally get out after she drank half of the drink as he walked in through her open cabin door. She offered him the drink she poured for him.
Logan hobbled his way over her to with a med kit. She was a mess and obviously needed to be treated. The least he could do was tend to her. He took the offered drink and quickly downed it to take the edge off. "It looks like a little rougher for you than it needed to be," he teased. The fact that she'd gone through that for him and Kaitlyn had not been lost on him. "We should take care of some of these before you clean up."
“I forgot how brutish the Orion Syndicate can be. It also seemed like I got every big guy there,” she snarked back with a slightly sly smile. She was tired and turned all her implants off. “The worst one is my shoulder.” She set the drink down on the hard mattress next to her to peel off her soaked, black jacket that had been burned, soaked in her blood and sweat, covered in grime and who knew what all type of mercenary blood had gotten on her. The black hid a lot. As she peeled back the jacket, it revealed a menagerie of colors ranging from pink to green to red to her own blue blood seeping from her wounds. Bruises were starting to form under her skin where she took the most hits on her left arm that she had used to block the incoming hits. “I guess I’ll be a blueberry later…” she trailed off as she looked at the bruising starting to form as she turned her arms over inspecting the damage. Her skin started to chill from the cool cabin air hitting her perspiring skin.
Logan chuckled. "I'm no doctor, but I'll do my best to make sure we don't have to cut it off," he winked. He was careful to apply the antiseptic to the wound to disinfect it before using the dermal regenerator. It wouldn't completely heal it but it would take the edge off of it and make sure it healed right. "Those cuts don't look too good either. Just take the whole thing off. It'll be easier."
Standing up, she undid her pants slowly as her muscles started stiffening already as it knew she was no longer in battle. Pulling her pants down, it revealed the deep enough gash on her leg that blood had seeped down to her left knee; the gash hadn't gone down through muscle but definitely hit a couple blood vessels. Her right knee was already starting to bruise from her fall over the railing. She kicked her boots off and then stepped out of her pants. “Nothing broken. Definitely could use a hot shower,” she said as she sat back down in her soaked tank top, bra and underwear. Her skin shone under the lights in the cabin highlighting the different hues of blood.
"You and me both," he smiled as he disinfected the wounds. He placed his hand high on her thigh to help steady her as he applied to the cut on her leg. It seemed to the worse off and would likely be the most uncomfortable. He wiped away a lot of the blood so he could get a good look and then closed the wound best he could with the regenerator. He then moved to her shoulder, sliding both her tank top and bra strap down. "Don't worry, we'll get to you back to your modelling days good as new."
“You know, that could be an option now. This was the final one,” she commented on the mission. “As soon as we get back to HQ, I’m resigning from Intelligence. I want my simple engineering life back,” she stated softly. “Not that today wasn’t interesting and fun. It's been a lot of little things that have added up over time. Now it has just turned out to be more than I bargained for.”
Logan nodded. "I wish I could say you're making a mistake but honestly I can't blame you after everything that went down." He moved to the last cut, leaving her straps as they were. His touch was deliberate and gentle as he cleaned the one on her neck. He leaned in close, his lips a hair's breath from her neck and his free hand on her inner thigh as he closed the wound. "I don't think I can repay you for everything you did for Kaitlyn and I. Doesn't mean I won't try." He looked back into her eyes and his hand deliberately brushed her cheek.
“Nothing to repay me for,” she stated as she took the dermal regenerator from his hand and then helped him out of his shirt as she could see the cut through the shirt. It wasn’t that deep, but enough that water, sweat and blood in the wound would sting a decent bit. The burn on his arm was worse though, by far. She continued working on it as she finally broke the silence. “When we get far enough away, I’ll contact her and we can get your sister out of hiding.”
"At this point the only person that's dangerous to her is me," Logan replied. "But at least she'll have a shot at a normal life." It had been over twenty years since either of them had been able to keep from looking over their shoulders. The cut on his chest healed, he gently took her wrist and kissed the back of her hand tenderly.
She finished up the bulk of the dermal regenerator on his cut and his burn and set it on the bed. “I need to take a shower and get all this off of me.” He pulled away from her as she went to stand; she was stiffer than she was before and the bulk of the alcohol was hitting her empty stomach. She grabbed the tumbler and took a sip again. As she made way to the small latrine with a shower, she steadied herself on her feet, her energy fully starting to drain, alcohol taking effect. She grabbed a hold of the door frame and set the glass down on the table and looked back at him. “Coming?”
At first he figured he'd been shot down, but her invitation proved he had thought too soon. Logan gave her a sly smirk as he stood and unbuckled his pants to strip down. He didn't say a word as he followed her into the latrine area and steadied her as he helped her to strip down. Turning on the water, he held her upright underneath as he gently massaged the blood and grime off of her skin.
Returning the favor, her hands moved over the bloodiest of spots and started cleaning him off as well. The mixed colors of blood ran in streams off of their bodies and swirled down the drain. She pulled the tie out of her hair allowing her grime filled hair started to cascade free under the water. It had grown long over the last six months now reaching nearly the middle of her back.
The close quarters left little room for maneuvering but Logan was careful of both their wounds as he turned her towards him and kissed her passionately. He tucked one arm under her leg and other behind her back, pulling her flush to him so he supported most of her weight. The adrenaline from the mission still coursing through him took over and supercharged the kiss and the caress of small of her back.
As he pushed her back against the metal of the shower stall, chills ran down her body making her gasp lightly. She returned his kiss and lifted her other leg from the floor, straddling his hips as he held her against the wall.
Logan got going in a smooth rhythm before he buried his face in the crook of her neck, trading kisses and hot breaths along her neck and undamaged shoulder. His hand slid up farther on her back, tracing her spine and caressing her skin. Finally, he arched back and pulled both of them back to the other side of the stall and rested her entire weight on top of him.
Her eyes closed and her head went back as she pressed her body closer to his. Ignoring the pain, she allowed herself a chance to enjoy herself for the first time in a long time. Her arms went under his arms and around his back pulling their chests tight together as she allowed him to control it.
His breath shortened as his pace quickened. The last of the adrenaline in his system pumped through him and brought him to climax. He grasped around her shoulders and his grip tightened, allowing her to collapse on top of him once more as he finished. He took several deep breaths to recover.
Shortly after he had climaxed, she did as well. She arched her back as it had been far too long for her. When she finished, she leaned forwards kissing him as she dropped her left leg first and then her right. Her body protested against the action forcing her to grimace slightly. "Worth it," she murmured as she looked up the couple of inches with a smirk.
Logan chuckled, "well, I've never had any complaints before, although it was one of my shorter performances. More intense though. And totally worth it," he agreed.
He grabbed a towel and helped her to dry off first, keeping her steady as he did do, so she wouldn't fall. When he was done, he laid her on the bed gently and tossed her some clothes. He put on his boxers and headed for the replicator. "You hungry? Cause a fight like that works up my appetite."
"Yes." She pulled the tank top on and rotated her legs over the edge of the bed and pulled up the pair of underwear. She dropped the rest of the clothes next to the bed. "I can eat and then will probably pass out for a day."
Logan replicated a light meal of chicken and vegetables for both of them. "I hope this works. I don't know enough about your species if you have allergies to certain things." He sat down beside her and handed over a plate.
She smiled. "It's just fine, we don't have allergies so to speak. We metabolize food differently taking the raw minerals. Since most food we have come across doesn't above enough of what we need, we supplement as needed." She took the plate, stating, "thanks." And then took the fork from him and quickly dug into the food. She then set the food aside and grabbed the last of the whiskey and poured it between their two glasses. She raised her glass to toast to him. "To no more looking over shoulders."
He took the glass and tapped it against hers with a head nod before they both drank. "So you said you were leaving. Any idea where you're going? I imagine you've been doing this a while. Are you sure you can completely put the life behind you?"
"Wherever Starfleet assigns me. I've been an engineer longer than I have been a spy or a soldier. I've only been active in Starfleet Intelligence for three years…" She finished off her food quickly as she was hungrier than she thought she was. "Ten years for my own people against my will. So thirteen years a spy." She got up again and replicated the bitter healing tea. "Didn't know if you wanted it or not." She poured herself a cup and sipped it as she leaned back against the wall and sat cross legged. "Yeah, thirteen years a spy versus my forty seven as an engineer though really more like fifty as I didn't stop being an engineer when I was just a spy."
Logan counted up the math on both hands and got a perplexed good. "Either you got a very early start or you look really good for your age," he smirked. "Where are you from? Can you tell me about your people?"
She was hesitant and realized that she knew his secret. "I'm sixty five of your years. I'm an Ekahl from Ekahl," she laughed lightly at how corny it sounded. She grew a bit somber as she continued "my race destroyed our planet and the Jem'Hadar did their best trying to finish the rest of us off. The Federation rescued what was left of my people about nine years ago. I stayed with my people for less than six months before deciding to join Starfleet with Bernard. Now you understand why I trust her explicitly: we are both from the same sector. And you now know more than Starfleet does."
In their line of work, information or the withholding of it was a matter of life or death and he did not treat her revelations lightly. Even knowing of their connection was something that put her and her friend in danger if anyone were to extract that information from him or he were to reveal it in an irresponsible way. "I understand having someone in your life you would trust with everything. Especially when you have most everything taken from you. Make sure to thank her for me as well."
"I will. All we have is ourselves, one ship and our memories. Everything else is gone in the radioactive cesspool or floating debris." She sipped her tea. "So back to the desk for you or are you going to head back out now that your safe from Brakka and his men?"
He shook his head. "I think Starfleet Intelligence likes me where I am. Between my leg not fully being healed, my age and how badly my last op went, they would rather push me up the ladder and be the one directing ops instead of running them. I don't like it but it's not my call."
"Why not join the fleet and leave intelligence?" She asked, curious if he wanted that or wanted more. "It would get you out from behind the desk."
"It was part of the deal I made," he explained. "Brakka might be gone but I've been Logan Vance for too long to go back to my old life. It's an illusion that they created. Without their smoke and mirrors, it all fades away. And all that's left is a liar and a con artist who could barely make ends meet. No, the deal I made was a marriage. The only one I'll ever agree to. Till death do us part."
She smiled weakly as she set her head back against the wall understanding his position and regretting it for him. "Well, maybe you'll get lucky one day and they would be willing to allow the illusion to continue without you in the marriage." She stifled a yawn. The one downside to rapid energy consumption in the field is that she crashed harder and faster than she normally would have after an op. That and pent up desires from at least a couple of years happened too. "I think I'm going to crash." She downed the tea whole now that it had cooled a bit and set the cup on the small table next to the kettle and empty plate and tumbler. "Ship is on autopilot. Don't fret if I don't wake for a day." She yawned again. "It gets harder and harder every time …" she slipped under the blanket and held it up for him. "If you want," she offered.
Slipping under the blanket with her, he wrapped his arm over top of her as he took the position of the big spoon. He was exhausted too and right now he couldn't think of anything better than sharing her bed. By the time they got where they were going, they were unlikely to ever cross paths again. If he could repay her in some small way by the time they got there, it seemed only fair. "Rest up. I'll keep one eye open," he promised. She just murmured as she put her trust in him and allowed herself to fall asleep.
