1944 - Salvation
-----------------------------
The sensation of the transporter woke Jéanne-Thérèse out of the darkness and into a groggy headache "Ugh," she muttered as they moved off of the small transporter pad. "Thank you," she said as she hugged him tightly. Standing in the orange hue, she inhaled deeply, smelling the cleanest air she had smelt in over nine years.
He wrapped his arms around her and his hand went to the back of her head and met something wet. Pulling his hand away, he noticed blood on his fingers.
"You're bleeding," he said with a little panic in his voice. "I'll get a med kit." He was very careful to set her upright and against one of the runabout's walls.
"Yeah, I hurt all over. First….first, I'm going to step through the shower first to make sure they are clean. Can you help me to the shower?" she asked as she realized she was covered in soot and grime and knew she hadn't bathed proper in a couple of weeks.
He nodded. "Do you need me to keep an eye on you?" he asked and then realized how that sounded. "That didn't come out right," he gave a sheepish smile as he helped her to her feet.
"It's just a minor concussion," she weakly reassured him. "Might not be the worst idea for you though in case I lose my balance." He helped her to the latrine in the back area of the shuttle. "You can fill me in on all the things I've missed in the last eight years since I disappeared." She had been successful at unlatching the overalls, but the button down shirt was another story. She tried getting out of the button down shirt she was wearing and her arms weren't cooperating due to the pain that coursed through her back. "And you can totally help me with this shirt and bra."
Logan was a little surprised at her lack of modesty after his previous attempt to kiss her but he didn't flinch and did as she requested. He removed her red cross armband first before slowly unbuttoning the shirt and trying to keep her balanced all at the same time. After he finally got it off, he unhooked the bra from the back. He got a bit of a peek as he did so.
The cuts on her back looked nasty but they would have a better idea once she cleaned them. "I'll get the med kit. You ok here?"
"Yeah," she said as she had her back to him after he helped her out of her shirt and bra. The rest of her clothes were easily shucked. It took her a minute to remember how to work the sonic shower and a smile crossed her face as she closed her eyes, bracing herself against the wall. It had only been a couple of minutes while she cleaned up, a minute longer than she needed to as she was enjoying herself, though now she was a fan of hot water showers. That was something she would have to hold off until she was home. She found a towel in the wall locker and wrapped it around her skinny body. The war hadn't been kind to her. Slowly, deliberately she walked out and saw him waiting for her. "Shall we?" she asked looking at the advanced medical field kit he had. "I can finally properly fix your leg after four years."
Even as diminished as she was, Logan still took a long look at her in the towel. She was still quite an attractive woman. "My leg can wait," he waved off. "Remember it's only been a few hours for me when I last saw you. Right now we should take care of you. And maybe get you something nice to eat," he smiled. "Let's head back to one of the beds. It'll be easier to deal with and you'll be more comfortable. Maybe even get some rest."
"Mess would be good so I can eat something real." She walked to the back and ordered herself a small meal that she would be able to enjoy even though she hadn't eaten a good solid meal for ages. She set the plate down on the table of a small sirloin cut into bite size slices and bite size veggies and sliced strawberries with a glass of wine, synthesized Marsol Vineyard wine and climbed up on the table surface. As she took a sip of the wine, she slid the towel down showing him her back. "I'll take the hypospray and the tricorder, while you work."
"Sure," he agreed and got to work. The first couple of lacerations were easy to get to and fix. He was gentle with his touch and rested his free hand on her shoulder. He used it to message it gently as he worked. The last couple, however, were below the towel line and he worked on her head while she finished her meal. "Feel better?" he asked.
"Much," she said as she scanned herself and started manipulating the hypospray. She injected herself with loads carefully dosed of medicines and vitamins. "Been far too long for modern medicine." She savored her small portioned meal. "I can't wait for a real shower and a night of sleep without worries."
"You'll get both soon enough," he promised. "But first I need to finish with this. I've gotten all the easy to get to cuts and bruises. If you want, you can put something on and I cover the ones lower on your back?" he offered. Normally he wouldn't suggest the dressing part, however, he felt like he'd already been shot down from earlier.
She finished the glass of wine remembering how good their family wine was. "Can you get me another?" She asked so she ate another bite of food. "When we get back, if you like wine, I'll see that we get you a crate of the real stuff. Not the synthehol iteration. It's not bad. Just not great." She laughed lightly.
"Wine is always good to have on hand," he replied. He ordered another glass for her and one for himself and brought it back. "A toast to finally being home?"
Smiling as she shifted the towel covering her front so he could tend her wounds on her lower back. She toasted the glass of wine to him. "To Home."
The fact that she moved the towel to reveal her entire back side surprised him a bit but he didn't hesitate and immediately got to work. The ones on the lower back where the worst so he worked more thoroughly on them. He finished regenerating each cut, he gently ran his hand over her skin and down her spine to ensure he had done it correctly and it wouldn't leave a scar. It didn't take long to start noticing goosebumps as he did so.
She took a sip of the wine as she leaned her head forwards. It had been far too long since she felt the warm embrace. His fingers ran down her back expertly. She wasn't naive enough to believe it was part of the medical treatment. The fact he kissed her four years ago led her to believe maybe she didn't need to be the spitfire that pushed everyone away anymore. The sensations he was eliciting in her back were a mix of hot and cold. Long forgotten nerves were awakening. "When you're done, I can fix your leg quickly if you like," she offered trying to ground herself.
It was still pretty sore and despite her state of undress and the fact that she looked like she could use about a dozen hours of sleep, he took her up on the offer this time, "Thanks." To make it easier to access, he slipped off the uniform pants he's been wearing. The things were starting to itch anyway and he was getting tired of them. He positioned himself to the side and presented his leg on the space of the table between them.
As he moved to sitting on the table with her, Jéanne-Thérèse shifted in the towel and then pulled his leg up over her lap. She reached into the kit and picked up the tools and started undressing the bandages that she had placed there four years ago in that makeshift hospital even if it had been only been a couple hours for him. Her nimble fingers moved quick removing the stitches in the artery and using the vascular regenerator at the same time, she fixed the area and then used both the micro suture and dermal regenerator to heal the wound from the inside out. "A bit different modules than what I am used to. They did not inherently change."
She looked into his eyes as she finished. "You'll want to rub it. The damage to your underlying tissues and delay in prompt proper treatment with cause it to periodically ache," she explained as she sipped the wine.
He nodded understanding and swung his legs back over the side. "Understand. How long will that last? Not that it matters much. When I get back, it's back behind a desk for me."
"Couple weeks? Maybe a month." He moved to the chair he had been originally occupying and sipped the wine as she did hers. " Thank you for rescuing me. So…how gentlemanly you are…I mean… that kiss and extra attention to details..." she trailed off gauging his response of if he was just being nice or if he did want more.
The right corner of Logan's mouth curled into a smirk. "Everyone, no matter how good they are, has a weakness. Mine is a beautiful woman. Doubly so if she saves my life. If you've ever played those old holonovels about the suave spy who goes about stopping the bad guys and in the end he gets the girl?" He shrugged, "it's not exactly that clean in real life. Sometimes I get slapped."
Returning a smirk, she finished her wine and moved to the edge of the table in front of him. "Like how I slapped you?" She laughed lightly.
"You, I think, have that action perfected," he laughed with her. "My jaw still hurts," he feigned being wounded.
"Oh, I didn't slap you that hard. I had plenty of time to feign weakness and learn my place." She paused smiling. "I could make it up to you; you being the heroic spy and all predestined by a photograph."
