Jéanne-Thérèse Marsol shook the hand of the yeoman with a smile. “Lieutenant Jahn-Tarez Marsol reporting for duty,” she said.
“Excellent! Welcome aboard. Captain S’vona wanted to meet you in person but is currently held up in briefings. She requested when you come aboard to check in with the ex-oh,” he said.
“Bridge I take it?” she asked as she hoisted her bag over her shoulder again.
“Yes, ma’am. I can see that your crate makes your Quarters on Deck 4.”
“Thank you.” She normally was a light traveller, but after a period of nearly a decade living out of a backpack, she held onto a bit more, and the real wine from the family farm of course had to be there as well. “I’ll make my way there now.”
She left the airlock and went for the Bridge. When she got there, there was no one in the center command well. The officer at the back of the Bridge pointed towards the XO’s office to the front of the bridge. She nodded her gratitude as she walked over to the door and pressed the chime. When she heard the call to come in, her jaw could have hit the floor. “Sûrement pas!” she exclaimed, smiling wide.
"Jéanne," Logan smiled and stood to greet her. He'd only learned of her posting less than an hour ago. He moved from around the desk and gave her a hug and kiss on the cheek before becoming more professional. "Long time."
“Five years too long. I was hoping to see you after Isolation, but you weren’t around. By the time I looked up, I was through the Academy. You spooks are hard to keep tabs on,” she laughed lightly. She had learned a lot of the inside of Intelligence when she spent six months going through debrief after debrief, and exam after exam, and proficiency tests. “The Academy was easier than that Isolation.” She dropped her bag and took the seat he showed her. “I had no idea you were here.”
"I just transferred in from the Hawking. I didn't even know I'd be here until my orders this morning." He didn't add why they had come through so suddenly. "I hoped they didn't treat you too badly."
“Pst,” she said. “German street side inquisitions were way worse than what Starfleet Intelligence could throw at me. How’s the leg? It heal up okay? Not too long of a process I hope.”
"It's better now… Never quite back to 100%. Aches from time to time. Nothing serious. You look great. The 24th century agrees with you, I see. I wish I could have been there when you got out but the life never ends. Especially behind the desk." And raising a kid takes a lot of time, he didn't add.
She chuckled a little. “I think anything this century is nearly better than that century. If you like, since I’m now your Assistant Chief, I could look at it and see what I can do. I’m sorry it didn’t quite heal. Next time you get shot with a projectile weapon, don’t have your tending physician tear it open to make it bleed,” she jibed. “I still owe you a case of wine I believe. Both my parents nearly had a heart attack when I said I was getting assigned to a ship again a couple years ago. I get it. I’ll be the first to admit that there is still some trepidation stepping on a shuttle craft today.”
"If you want to take a look, sure. I've had a few docs look at it. They can't find anything wrong," he shrugged. "But hey, it worked didn't it?" He smirked. "Tell your parents who's looking out for you. That'll help."
“Honestly, I don’t think anything will make them calm unless I’m on the farm. Apparently my supposed demise in 77 was enough for them to get over it when I showed up in 86. I was estranged with my mother primarily when I left for the Academy at 16. I can take a look at it any time you would like me to,” she smiled. Yeah it could have been phantom pain but usually not. “Projectile trauma can be so persnickety.”
"Tell me about it," he agreed. "So what brought you to the Andromeda?"
“I was supposed to be a part of the shakedown crew, but I couldn’t get a ride fast enough for the shakedown cruise so I was told to report here instead. Deep space assignment was in the opposite direction.” She handed over the transfer orders. “They dropped me off and off they went again. It’s been a long two weeks of traveling. We aren’t leaving like tomorrow, right?” she asked. She wanted to get grounded for a bit before leaving again and wanted to explore the starbase.
"End of the week week. They're turning it around pretty quick. Probably worried someone else will get out there first."
She smiled and relaxed a bit knowing that she would at least get a couple of days before having to worry about shipping out again. “Do I have a Chief yet, or am I acting Chief until one is assigned?” she asked.
He pointed to a stack of PADDs. "They might be in there? I'm not sure as I haven't been through the entire crew yet. In fact I wouldn't have known you were coming if not for coming across your file."
Quirking an eyebrow, she queried, “oh by random picking through the stack?” she asked.
Logan shrugged. "Yeah, why not? I mean I didn't know they were organized in any particular way."
“That would make too much sense, no?” she asked laughing lightly. “Well, I guess I'll assume acting until you tell me otherwise. Say, if you’re not too busy tonight after shift, want to come over for dinner? I’d like to give you that bottle of wine if you want it. And if you want that case, I just need to make a phone call and it can sent this direction.”
Logan hesitated. She didn't know anything about Amanda yet. "Can I make some arrangements first? My life is a little more complicated than last we met."
“Sure, what time works for you? I was thinking like 1800?” Jéanne-Thérèse offered the first time out to see what would work best for him. That would give her at least a couple of hours to unpack and prep food.
"Sounds good," he agreed. "Do you need anyone to show you around? I'd offer but…" He pointed to the stack again.
She waved her hand off at the idea. “Nah. One of the greatest marvels of the 24th century, computers that tell you where everything is,” she joked and smiled. “I’m somewhere on Deck 4 per the yeoman that greeted me at the airlock. I’d probably wager you’ll need to ask directions, cause I know I will.”
"I'll find you and see you then," he smiled.
“It’s not like you’ve done that twice already anyways...what’s a third?” she joked and grabbed her bag and stood. “Anything else or shall I see you at 1800?”
"Dismissed, Lieutenant," he winked.
She stood and saluted. “Sir.”
