Plugged Leak
MD: 2386
Time 0930
Scene: Starfleet Intelligence HeadQuarters
-----------------------------------------------

Adlyn had received word the leak had been plugged a week ago from her companion. As much as she had loyalty for the Spectre team, she was no longer wanting to be in the intelligence field and had only taken the Spectre assignment because she still needed access to the resources and intelligence, plus having a layer of protection was nice. This was her last hurrah. If she survived what was coming next, she was going to retire back to Starfleet itself and leave her intelligence days behind her. It had turned out much different than what she had assumed it was going to be.

After the yeoman showed her the office for Logan Vance, she knocked at the doorway lightly, her go bag tucked over her shoulder. "Got a minute?" she asked. They hadn't spoken since they parted ways six months prior after his extraction.

Logan looked up at the attractive woman who had just walked up to his office. His smile grew wide, despite not quite putting together who she was. "For you, I have as much time as you need. What can I do…" He paused as it finally clicked. "Adlyn?" he asked, his eyes wide. Without hesitation, he moved in for an embrace.

"The time has come. It's good to see you quite mobile," she laughed lightly as she returned the embrace. "I got word the leak has been plugged and wanted to know if you were ready or if I am doing this on my own," she mentioned without specifics about the rest of the original issue - the branch of the Orion Syndicate under Brakka's control.

His expression was mixed. He wanted to know more about the opportunity but there were complications. "I heard about the arrest. At least I assume that was related to our mutual problem." He moved to his desk and propped himself up by one arm. "Are we sure that's the end of it?"

"The individual fessed responsibility of leaking critical missions and milestones to two sections of the syndicate. The branch I took out with the Roughnecks were a sub branch to the branch led by your man. Half of the missions that were leaked had been successfully able to be mitigated without issue. The other half had to have a lot of protocols revised and scrubbing done. The most costly one was my takial mission. The one with the most stakes was yours. Thankfully when we blew the reactor and the weapon, we destroyed my branch. The marines cleaned up the rest. We just need to deal with yours so you can live again." She had chosen her words wisely considering all of HQ was bugged. "So we were intertwined without realizing it."

He nodded. He'd not contacted Kaitlyn since everything had happened. He'd only gotten one message that she had safely been relocated and that was it. The truth of it was that neither one of them would be safe until Brakka and his men were dealt with. Brakka was the one with the vendetta. The rest of the syndicate would care less about two ghosts that wanted nothing to do with them.

He stood again and rubbed his brow. "I'm in. There's just one issue. Despite my long recovery, I'm still not in peak form. Hence why they have me behind a desk. Well.. that and the fact that my face is galactic news. Intelligence would rather have me lead operations now a days when have me go through another facial reconstruction. Just so you know who you're getting into bed with."

"I promised you I would see this through. If we do this, it would just be us. There wouldn't be the force of HQ behind us. It'll be sanctioned but they won't risk assigning any others to the cause due to liability. If you think that you being with me on this mission would be a liability, then I would rather you be the extraction team and I go alone." She wasn't but to beat around the bush for this one. It would have been nice to be able to get some of the roughnecks to join them for oomph but she was denied contacting them, even though she knew they would all have volunteer for retribution. Bernard was handling the leak and couldn't join them. The only others that she trusted explicitly had washed their hands of Starfleet.

Logan shook his head "I'm not letting you go in there by yourself to settle my score," he told her. "Besides, you'll need what I've been able to dig up on our old friends." He reached back and picked up a PADD. "I know where they are, their strength and I had a friend crack their encryption. It's not going to be easy but it'll even the odds a bit."

She reviewed the work that he had done. "Looks similar to what I was able to dig up being close to Orion space for the last six months. I got some stuff that we can review. It'll take us four days at max warp to get there plenty of time to come up with a game plan." She downloaded the data he had gathered to her implant. The blueprints came up over her HUD and she scanned through the encryption information. "As much as we kept the arrest secret, they will probably know sooner rather than later their mole has been taken. I would recommend that we don't hesitate and leave. I have a Klingon Small Freighter in orbit if you're ready to go." She handed him the PADD back.

Logan nodded and indicated to wait just a minute. He arranged his top lieutenant to handle all of his meetings for the next week. This was not unusual for a man in his position and his lieutenant confirmed his departure. "I think I'm good. So… who's buying dinner?" he smirked.
